In any event, we made it! WE ARE AT THE OLYMPICS! This was a bigger feat than expected, after a drama-filled day yesterday for Mr. FGD. Inconsiderate Dallas had its biggest snowfall on record, and Mr. FGD was stuck at DFW for oh, 10 hours trying to make it out so that we could make our flight to Vancouver. I was part worried, and part, in my trademark insensitive ways, trying to figure out which one of you could quickly replace Mr. FGD on this trip. :D
Anyway, we are here, and it's pretty rad. Here's the cool ass modern condo we are renting, right in the heart of Yaletown, just a few blocks over from where the Opening Ceremonies are thunderously taking place as I type this.
We literally walked out of the Canada Line station, onto the streets of Yaletown, as the Olympic Torch was going by. Please, someone save this in stone, because it will never happen again: Mr. FGD was right. This experience is rad! There were thousands of people on the street, and everyone was buzzing with excitement. Here are my very rushed pics of the torch going by. Can you see it???
I cannot say how much I am loving the Canadians right now. How could you not??
The Canadians seem very proud to have the Olympics here. Everyone is sporting their crazy Canadian Olympic-pride gear, and there are Canadian flags everywhere. I love it!
Tomorrow, we explore Vancouver. And Sunday, let the games begin!!
