Hawaii April 2008

Mr. Feminist Gold Digger (FGD) and I went to Hawaii recently for a little vacation. It was actually my first time to Hawaii. Everyone had been telling me (for years) that I would love, love, love Hawaii. So I went with high expectations. How was I to know that it wasn't sunny everyday?

We landed in Hawaii and stayed in Waikiki for the first day and a half of our trip. Mr. FGD has some clients in Honolulu, so left me at the outdoor hotel bar with a cocktail and my US Weekly.

Our hotel, the Moana Surfrider, was fantastic. The service was great and they upgraded us to an oceanfront room with a huge balcony. Here's an image from the front of the hotel. Normally I hate old historic shit (the Moana Surfrider was the first hotel on Oahu), but for some reason I found this hotel beautiful.
We went to dinner at Nobu the first night we were in Honolulu with some of Mr. FGD's clients. It was good, but my stomach was a little weak from eating an entire bag of candy on the airplane and it being after 11 pm at night in the time zone I was still mentally in when we ate.

The next day, the weather was shit. Gloomy all day and raining on and off. We drove around Oahu all morning. When we got back in the afternoon, I was a little bummed out about the weather so I decided I needed to explore Waikiki's shopping since it was not laying out on the beach weather. I came back with a little package.
We left Oahu the next morning and flew to Maui. In summary, the weather was crappy for the most part and Mr. FGD and I drank a lot of cocktails. We did some snorkeling, Mr. FGD went scuba diving, and we did a helicopter tour of of West Maui and Molokai. I was terrified. Mr. FGD had a fabulous time and was grinning the whole time. I think he enjoyed my pain, just a little. We ended the trip with one beautiful, sunny day at the beach and pool. Good-bye Maui. I will never come see you in April again.

Back to reality. And beautiful, sunny Orange County.
